Scouta CEO and Founder Richard Giles joins me this week On The Pod to chat about Scouta, the social recommendations market and the upcoming Perth Podcamp.
After a short (well 3 week) lull On The Pod returns with a one-on-one interview with TPN’s Ewan Spence recorded at the In and Out Hamburger Joint in Mountain View, CA just down the road from Google.
We cover a variety of topics: tech, homeless people, failed American warfare and some other stuff in between. A great bloke who was fun to hang out with for a couple of hours, even when my GPS unit spat the dummy in Palo Alto when I went to drop him off (see pic..they were all two way streets!).
For my first attempt at live event podcasting using a little Olympus digital voice recorder, On The Pod #6 features audio from the Blogging Session at the Influence Forum 2007.
Ben Barren and I talk about blogging and how it applies to PR and Marketing, with some questions thrown in for good measure. Audio isn’t brilliant and I couldn’t get the volume right on some of the questions, but hopefully it makes for a reasonable listen.
Joining me in my first face to face podcast recording is Melbourne based CEO of FeedCorp Ben Barren, the show being recorded during the Influence Forum in the Hunter Valley, NSW. We cover a variety of topics, including the current state of play in Australia in relation to investing and Web 2.0, the some-what sad state of the Australian blogsophere and how to fix it, and more.
A long one this week but I could have gone on for hours; I found the conversation that interesting, hopefully you’ll enjoy it.
Guest 4 was a no show so instead of remaining silent for the week I indulge in a little Dave Brubeck. One for music lovers.
Coming up in the next 3 weeks are various trips, I’m at Influence this coming weekend, in San Francisco the week after for the TechCrunch 40 conference, and Brisbane for the Australian Blogging Conference the week after that. I’ve bought a nice digital recorder to catch some great interviews on the run, and should actually have more than the standard weekly podcast in the weeks ahead.
A short note as well: if you’ve got a story to tell and want to appear on the show, drop me a line.
Joining me for the 3rd episode of On The Pod is the CEO and Enchantress of Norg Media Bronwen Clune. In my shortest podcast to date (we finally hit the golden 30 minute mark) Bronwen talks about PerthNorg, MSM blogs and the general state of play regarding Hyper local sites.
Geelong based site developer Paul Montgomery joins me for Episode 2 of On The Pod. The subject matter is a little dry this week: OpenID and White Label social networks, but highlights include me calling users dumb for their apathy towards embracing open web standards.
Also due to popular demand, the file type is pure MP3 goodness, just don’t ask me how long it took me to work out how to do it on my Mac. :-). An updated version of Show 1 in MP3 should be up shortly.
For the first On The Pod David Krug joins me in a discussion on Unionised blogging and the general state of play with blog networks and user generated content sites.
The audio isn’t perfect, but I’m working on it. It’s little bit longer than I’d hoped for but it was a great discussion. Enjoy and hopefully more to come. Please feel free to leave your feedback in the comments. The aim is to have an open discussion that evolves as we go along.
Of course if you’d like to be a guest, email me at nichenet @ gmail.com. I’m looking to talk to people who might otherwise not get a gig on a podcast. I want to here your story, and your thoughts.
On The Pod features noted blogger Duncan Riley interviewing guests that
might otherwise not have a high profile yet have something interesting to say. The topics vary from Web 2.0, through to Tech and general politics including labor issues and topical events. On The Pod aims to provides something different amongst the swarm of podcasts, great listening fodder for the commuter or frequent traveler.
