Just to anyone out there wanting to get into IT: You don't HAVE to go to Uni for 4 years studying Computer Science. In fact, I as a potential employer would prefer if you didn't! I know the curriculum for that degree, and I know how little relevance it has to many jobs in IT except perhaps the hardcore system and database administration roles. I consider myself a "skilled worker" yet I have no more than 6 months of tertiary/technical education ... a diploma/cadetship course I did back in 2000. 6 months! It's about getting the relevant skills for a particular career ... Uni does not neccessarily equate to being skilled. I strongly support vocational education ... and not simply because I work for the Vocation and Technical Education branch of the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations!
