On The Pod Episode 1

For the first On The Pod David Krug joins me in a discussion on Unionised blogging and the general state of play with blog networks and user generated content sites.

The audio isn’t perfect, but I’m working on it. It’s little bit longer than I’d hoped for but it was a great discussion. Enjoy and hopefully more to come. Please feel free to leave your feedback in the comments. The aim is to have an open discussion that evolves as we go along.

Of course if you’d like to be a guest, email me at nichenet @ gmail.com. I’m looking to talk to people who might otherwise not get a gig on a podcast. I want to here your story, and your thoughts.

Update: now available in MP3

M4A only? Ick. I’d like to try it out, but I’m not going to monkey around with transcoding. Hook me up with an MP3, and I’ll give it a whirl…

Any chance you could provide a mp3 version of the show?
    Best of luck.

Interesting ideas guys. I think your definition of bloggers as “slave labour” is hilarious though. Slaves are forced at gunpoint to work. AFAIK, bloggers are currently not forced to work. And even “exploited labour” in third world countries, who work for $1 a day, are starving and have no health care. They work to survive. Most bloggers are making OBSCENE amounts of money in their primary income (by any historical or international measure), so you can’t even describe them as “cheap labour”. If they don’t like the deals they are getting from blog networks, STOP BLOGGING FOR THEM. Or podcasting for them, as the case may be. It’s easy.

However I agree with your analysis of the instability of Facebook/You Tube-like platforms. Anyone remember Geocities??
